Course summary

The Edexcel A-Level Business course explores how real businesses operate and make decisions in a dynamic, competitive environment. In the first year, you’ll study marketing and people, learning how businesses identify customer needs, build brands, and manage employees effectively. You’ll also explore managing business activities, including finance, resource management, and production processes. In the second year, the focus moves to business decisions and strategy, where you’ll analyse how data is used to plan growth, assess performance, and make strategic choices. You’ll also investigate global business, examining international trade, globalisation, and how firms expand into new markets. Throughout the course, you’ll apply theory to real-world case studies, developing the ability to interpret data, assess business performance, and evaluate different courses of action — just as real business leaders do. Across the two years, you’ll learn how businesses make decisions in key areas such as marketing, finance, operations, and human resources, and how these functions work together to achieve success.
