Geography is a subject that covers a diverse range of topics from Physical Geography (why our planet looks like it does) to Human Geography (how we interact with our environment and each other). You will learn about Tectonic processes and hazards, Coastal landscapes and how they change, the Water cycle and why/where/what happens when there's not enough, the Carbon cycle and energy insecurities, Globalisation, Superpowers, Regeneration, Migration, identity and sovereignty. You will be tested on how the topics connect and how to apply your knowledge to specific problems. You will also conduct an independent investigation and present a report to show your findings.
Minimum grade 5 in GCSE Geography and grade 5 in GCSE Science, or equivalent. For all subjects a GCSE in the chosen area is an advantage and provides good foundational knowledge and skills. More importantly, you must enjoy the subject; you should be motivated to do well, want to work hard and have a keen interest in studying around the subject, independently. Our entry requirements provide insight into the required academic level to be successful at this course. However, please speak to us if you are interested in studying this subject and have concerns that you do not have a GCSE in this area or have concerns that you may not achieve the entry level required. Our team can be contacted on wrensix@wren.excalibur.org.uk.
3 exam papers and your independent investigation.
