Psychology is a fascinating subject and this qualification offers an engaging and effective introduction to it. It will help you understand human behaviour and mental processes and allow you to better understand how we think act and feel. A level psychology will give you the opportunity to develop critical skills such as analysis, interpretation and evaluation as you explore how psychology has contributed to an understanding of individual, society and different cultures. Students will learn the fundamentals of the subject and develop skills valued by Higher Education (HE) and employers, including critical analysis, independent thinking and research. During the course you will study the following units: • Social Influence/Memory/Attachment/Clinical psychology and Mental health • Biopsychology/Approaches in psychology/Research methods • Issues and debates/Gender or relationships/Schizophrenia/Aggression or Forensic psychology
Minimum grade 5-5 in GCSE Combined Science, Minimum grade 5 in English Language, and a Minimum grade 5 in Maths - 10% of the psychology paper required higher tier Maths knowledge, For all subjects a GCSE in the chosen area is an advantage and provides good foundational knowledge and skills. More importantly, you must enjoy the subject; you should be motivated to do well, want to work hard and have a keen interest in studying around the subject, independently.
