A Level Product Design (Pearson Edexcel) A Level Product Design is a Level 3 qualification for creative and analytical thinkers who enjoy solving real-world problems through design and innovation. The course combines creative design, technical knowledge, and practical skills, preparing students for careers in engineering, architecture, product development, and design-related industries. You’ll learn how to research, design, prototype, and evaluate products that meet the needs of users and society. The course covers materials, manufacturing processes, sustainability, and the impact of new technologies, encouraging you to think critically and design with purpose. Assessment: The qualification is assessed through a combination of written exams (testing your technical and design theory knowledge) and a non-examined assessment (NEA) — a major design project where you create and present a working prototype and supporting portfolio. Location: A Level Product Design is delivered at our sister site, UTC Sheffield City Centre. Timetables are carefully structured to include travel time between sites, allowing students to take this course alongside others at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. This A Level is excellent preparation for university courses and careers in product design, engineering, architecture, interior design, or industrial design, helping you build a professional portfolio and technical design expertise.
