A Level Art, Craft and Design is a Level 3 qualification that encourages creativity, imagination, and the confidence to explore ideas through a variety of artistic media and techniques. You’ll experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, mixed media, and digital work, developing your own artistic voice and style. The course focuses on creative thinking and visual problem-solving, helping you understand how artists, designers, and craftspeople express ideas and communicate meaning. You’ll explore different themes, study the work of influential practitioners, and produce your own original responses. Assessment: Assessment is based on two components: A personal investigation, where you develop a portfolio of practical work on a chosen theme supported by a written study. An externally set assignment, where you respond to a given theme through a practical project completed under exam conditions. Location: A Level Art, Craft and Design is delivered at our sister site, UTC Sheffield City Centre. Timetables are carefully structured to include travel time between sites, allowing students to take this course alongside others based at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. This course provides excellent preparation for further study or careers in fine art, illustration, graphic design, fashion, architecture, or other creative industries, and helps you build a professional portfolio for university or employment.
