
An AAQ is a 2-year vocational course, equivalent to one A level. It is studied alongside two other A level courses. You will study a total of 4 units across two years which include: Three mandatory units: Unit 1: Principles of Human Physiology, Anatomy and Pathology (Exam) Unit 2: Health Issues and Scientific Reporting (Exam) Unit 3: Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (Internal) One of the following optional units, that will be chosen by the teaching team: Unit 4: Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies (Internal) Unit 5: Biomedical Science (Internal) Unit 6: Human Reproduction and Fertility (Internal)
Grade 4 or above in GCSE Mathematics and English Language and a grade 4 in Biology plus another grade 4 in either Chemistry or Physics, or grade 4-4 in Combined Science, in addition to standard entry requirements.
58% of the course is externally assessed by exam; 42% is internally assessed by assignments. Examining board – Pearson This 4-unit qualification is the equivalent of one A Level. Grades are awarded from Distinction* to Pass.
