Extended Project Qualification

Course summary

The Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) develops independent research and project management skills, teaching students to evaluate sources, construct arguments and manage a long-term project from September to Summer. It strengthens communication through a written report and formal presentation, while reflection and evaluation build academic confidence. Equivalent to half an A level, the EPQ requires a 5,000–8,000 word essay, generates UCAS points, and supports progression to higher education by encouraging critical thinking and independent learning.
