Assessment
This qualification is a two year linear course. Linear means that students will sit all their exams and submit all their non-exam assessment at the end of the course. Component 1: Physical geography Water and carbon cycles, Coastal systems and landscapes and Hazards. Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes (40% of A-level) Component 2: Human geography Global systems and global governance, Changing places and Contemporary urban environments. Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes (40% of A-level) Component 3: Geographical investigation You will be asked to complete an individual investigation (3000 – 4000 words) which will be based on a question or issue developed by you and data that you collect in the field. (20% of A-level). Fieldwork skills will be developed and data collected through a residential field studies trip.
