If you enjoyed learning Spanish at GCSE and want to develop your language skills even further, this course is the perfect next step. You will deepen your knowledge of Spanish through engaging and relevant topics that not only improve your language proficiency but also help you understand key aspects of life and culture in Spanish-speaking societies. For example, you will explore modern Spanish icons while uncovering the rich history and core values that shape the Spanish-speaking world. Speaking is a central focus of the course. Most lessons will be conducted in Spanish, and you’ll be expected to use the language as much as possible in class to build fluency and confidence. Cultural understanding is equally important at this level. That’s why, in Years 12 and 13, you will study both a film and a literary text in depth, gaining insights into the cultural, historical, and social contexts of the Spanish-speaking world. Finally, grammar will play a key role throughout the course. You will be expected to master all verb tenses and key grammatical structures to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively in Spanish.
