The following mandatory units must be taken: Unit 1 - Anatomy and Physiology – Exam Unit 2 – Fitness training and programming for health, sport, and wellbeing (exam) Unit 3 – Professional development in the sports industry Unit 5 - Fitness training and programming In addition, students choose optional units from a range that has been designed to support choices in progression to sports courses in Higher Education. They cover content areas such as: Unit 7 – Practical sport Unit 10 – Sports event organisation Unit 4 - Sport leadership Single option block (one A Level) Double option block (two A Levels) Assignment-based practical units, coaching others, and work experience in local primary schools.
Level 2 Merit in BTEC Sport or Grade 5 in GCSE PE Minimum of Grade 4 in English and Maths
Exam and assignment based ongoing over the 2 years. Various methods of assessment such as written exams, practical, written work, presentations, coaching sessions, and witness statements.
