Course summary
The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. In addition, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted, to confirm that the content is also appropriate and consistent with current practice for students choosing to enter employment directly in the sport sector. The following mandatory units must be taken: Unit 1 - Anatomy and Physiology – Exam Unit 2 – Fitness training and programming for health, sport, and wellbeing (exam) Unit 3 – Professional development in the sports industry Unit 5 - Fitness training and programming In addition, students choose optional units from a range that has been designed to support choices in progression to sports courses in Higher Education. They cover content areas such as: Unit 7 – Practical sport Unit 10 – Sports event organisation Unit 4 - Sport leadership Single option block (one A Level) Double option block (two A Levels) Assignment-based practical units, coaching others, and work experience in local primary schools.
