Our Chemistry course is delivered by a team of experienced teachers, each with many years of experience in teaching Chemistry. The course covers a comprehensive range of topics including broken down into three key areas of chemistry: inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry. You will engage in practical laboratory work that reinforces theoretical knowledge and allows you to plan, conduct, and evaluate experiments.
Our general entry requirements are that you need 5 Grade 6s in your GCSEs to study A Levels, which must include a grade 6 in chemistry and Maths or a 6:6 in combined science.
A-Level Chemistry is a linear qualification, meaning that assessment takes place at the end of the course. The A-Level is 100% externally assessed with no coursework components. Assessment consists of three written exams covering theoretical content and practical skills: Paper 1: Physical and Inorganic Chemistry Paper 2: Organic and Physical Chemistry Paper 3: Synoptic paper including practical skills Students are required to complete a series of core practicals throughout the course. These practicals are teacher-assessed, and student performance will contribute to the Practical Endorsement. This endorsement is separate from the A-Level grade and will be recorded as a ‘Pass’ on A-Level certificates if awarded.
