Assessment

A-Level Chemistry is a linear qualification, meaning that assessment takes place at the end of the course. The A-Level is 100% externally assessed with no coursework components. Assessment consists of three written exams covering theoretical content and practical skills: Paper 1: Physical and Inorganic Chemistry Paper 2: Organic and Physical Chemistry Paper 3: Synoptic paper including practical skills Students are required to complete a series of core practicals throughout the course. These practicals are teacher-assessed, and student performance will contribute to the Practical Endorsement. This endorsement is separate from the A-Level grade and will be recorded as a ‘Pass’ on A-Level certificates if awarded.
