Course summary
Students study a minimum of 8 texts over 2 years. Analysis explores the key areas of tragedy and political writing and there is also an opportunity to develop understanding of critical theory. This course will enable students to develop analytical skills and powers of expression through the close study of thought-provoking and inspirational texts. Students will read classic examples of poetry, prose and drama, such as Othello by William Shakespeare, Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood and poetry by William Blake.
