
This course is designed for students who have a strong interest in the study of moving image productions such as Film or TV. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical production skills along with gaining experience in the planning and research which takes place in pre-production. Additionally, you will develop the production era skills needed to film for TV and film, including camerawork, lighting, production design, and sound. As well as post-production skills such as editing, motion graphics, sound effects, and evaluation skills needed in post-production. In addition to these skills, the course provides you with the skills needed to critically evaluate your work, in order to produce the best possible production. The qualification has four mandatory units covering the following topics: Information Technology Systems – Information technology systems, including the relationship between software and hardware, and the issues related to IT systems; Cyber Security and Incident Management – Types of cyber security attacks, the vulnerabilities in networked systems and how to plan and respond to attacks; Website Development – The development tools, techniques and processes used in website development and how to test usability, functionality and fitness for purpose; Relational Database Development – Structure of data, data design and database management systems (DBMS).
There are no subject specific entry requirements. Students need to have an average point score of 3.6. Studying Media at a GCSE level is desirable, but is not essential.
Students will be assessed through coursework and examinations.
