Drama and Theatre Studies
Course summary
Why study Drama at William Farr? You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers in a supportive environment in a purpose-built drama studio. The course is led by Mrs Jones who trained at the Royal Central School of Speech. What will you study? 1 Drama and theatre 40% (Written Exam) You will study two set text (“Hedda Gabler” and “Our Country’s Good”) and review Live Theatre. 2 Creating original drama 30% (NEA) You will devise your own performance from a stimulus using the methodologies of your chosen practitioner and complete a 3000-word working notebook about the process. 3 Making theatre 30% You will performing three scripted extracts from three different plays. Extract 3 is performed to an external examiner using the methodologies of another chosen practitioner. You will also complete a 3000-word reflective log. In the practical components students may specialise in performing, lighting, sound, set, costume, puppets and/or directing.
