Spanish
Course summary
Why study Spanish at William Farr? Studying Spanish at A’ Level opens doors to new cultures, global opportunities, and valuable skills. You’ll go beyond communication, exploring thought-provoking topics such as social issues, politics, film, and literature across the Spanish-speaking world. Alongside language fluency, students develop confidence in speaking, sharper writing skills, problem-solving abilities and an understanding of diverse cultures. Spanish also gives you a competitive edge in an increasingly interconnected world and provides a rewarding, intellectually stimulating experience that extends far beyond the classroom. What will you study? Our A' Level Spanish program is finely tuned to support your learning. We study the topics of current trends in Spanish speaking society and multiculturalism, political life and artistic culture. We study a film, Pan’s Labyrinth, and we read a play, La Casa de Bernarda Alba, in detail to perfect the art of writing a Spanish essay. Our speaking examination focuses on our Independent Research Project (IRP) where you can choose the topic area you wish to research, and this forms the foundation of your speaking examination. At William Farr, we support our linguists with a Language Assistant session which provides one-to-one speaking sessions.
