Students will study a combination of philosophy, ethics and religion throughout Years 12 and 13, giving them an understanding of a diverse range of philosophical and ethical viewpoints, as well as an in-depth knowledge of one religion. The course allows students to apply religious views to the world around them, for example in the contexts of gender, sexuality and science while also allowing students to think deeply about big philosophical and ethical questions, and have fantastic discussions!
Students will need to have at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English Language and Mathematics at Level 4. To enable students to select the most appropriate subjects at A-Level we use a system based on their APS (average point score) from their GCSE results. Add together your 8 highest GCSE's and then divide by 8 to give your APS. We advise students to choose the subjects which best fit their APS..
Paper 1: Philosophy of religion and ethics 3 hour written exam - 100 marks 50% of A Level Paper 2: Study of religion and dialogues 3 hour written exam - 100 marks 50% of A level The questions are a mixture of shorter 10 and 15 mark questions and longer 25 mark essay questions.
