BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Business

Course summary

Students take this course over two years and can choose between the Extended Certificate (4 units; broadly equivalent to one A level) and the Diploma (8 units; broadly equivalent to two A levels). Most of the units are coursework based, two are controlled assessments, and one is an exam. Coursework tends to be based on real companies or on students’ own business ideas. Students have the opportunity to develop many transferable skills on this course which employers and universities are looking for. These include using ICT to carry out research, present work and communicate with business people. Students also develop their time management and analytical skills by producing projects over a long period of time. In addition to this, students get to manage a real business event for unit 4. This is an excellent opportunity to gain real business skills, experience and earn a profit!
