Course summary
Students study engaging topics including politics, immigration, media, film and literature, to gain a thorough understanding of the rich, diverse culture and history of both Latin America and Spain. The language and grammar skills taught, which build directly on GCSE study, will allow students to speak and write Spanish with a high level of fluency and accuracy. Students will also develop their listening and reading skills to summarise, translate and analyse texts effectively. This course is ideal for students who are curious about life in other countries and want to equip themselves with highly transferable skills including a global outlook and cognitive, linguistic and cultural flexibility. Spanish is the world’s second most spoken language, the official language of 21 countries and is one of the fastest growing economic markets in the world. Students will have a weekly 1:1 lesson with the experienced, well-qualified Spanish Assistant. Students are expected to keep up-to-date with current affairs in Spain, undertake extra listening practice and to develop independent research skills.
