Exam board – AQA, Specification 1350 Minimum requirements for the course: Grade 6 in Mathematics. Staff contact: Mr Muir TMU@cheneyschool.org What is Core Mathematics all about? A one-year qualification for students focusing on practical, real-world maths applications like data analysis, finance, and statistics, rather than abstract theory, supporting other A-Levels and providing AS-level UCAS points for university entry. Course structure: 2 x 90 minute papers (Applied Maths (including personal finance), and Statistics) Complementary courses: Partners well with science and social science subjects, particularly Economics and Psychology, where students are not studying A-Level Mathematics. Leads to: Recognised by Universities both in terms of UCAS points and as an endorsement of mathematical skills for prospective medicine and social science students (where A-Level Maths is not studied).
