Course summary

Aside from the obvious qualities that an A-Level in music demonstrates, such as creativity and ability, higher education institutions and employers are often interested in the dedication, perseverance and teamwork that musicians offer, regardless of their chosen career. Indeed, there is a push for universities to recognise music as a ‘facilitating subject’ and peer and former chief executive of the Royal Opera House, Baroness McIntosh of Hudnall stated: “Music...is not a soft option or a "nice to have"... a student who comes out of schools with A-Levels in, say, music, chemistry and maths is well-equipped for the life that they are likely to lead.”
