Course summary

On a purely academic level, success in languages continues to be well-respected in the academic sphere as a discipline which requires a wide variety of skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and which is an excellent way to develop interpersonal skills and an appreciation of the way other people live. More and more universities look for academic success in one or more modern foreign languages as an indicator of the ability and personality of the student. The course equips students with the tools needed for further exploration of Spanish whatever their ultimate personal objectives: academic study, the world of work, leisure pursuits. At this time with competition for jobs, knowledge of one or more European languages could be an important factor in a selection process. Possible career pathways include: Travel and Tourism, Journalism and Media, Education, Psychology, Politics, Business and Commerce, Science, Teaching and Translation. This GCSE qualification is linear. Linear means that students will sit all their exams at the end of the course. The students will study all the following themes on which the assessments are based: • Theme 1: Identity and culture. • Theme 2: Local, national, international and global areas of interest. • Theme 3: Current and future study and employment.
