Assessment
There are 2 aspects of assessment for this qualification. If you select the AS – equivalent size qualification (National Certificate) you will undertake; Unit 1 – Psychological approaches and applications – Externally Assessed (1h 30 written examination worth 72 marks) Unit 2 – Conducting psychological research – Internally Assessed (externally moderated coursework marked at pass, merit or distinction level) If you undertake the A–Level equivalent size qualification (National Extended Certificate) you will cover units 1 and 2 as outlined above as well as Unit 3 and one other unit from a choice of 4 topics Unit 3 – Health psychology – Externally Assessed (2h written examination worth 70 marks) Optional unit - including crime and forensic psychology, child development, sport psychology and psychopathology. The optional unit is internally assessed and externally moderated. You will be awarded marks at pass, merit or distinction level.
