Assessment
There are two papers on this course each worth 40% each of the course. There is also a non-examination assessment which is worth 20% of the marks. Paper 1 is an onscreen examination that lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes. Students answer a series of short questions and write/adapt/extend programs in an Electronic Answer Document provided by us. The examination board issue Preliminary Material, a Skeleton Program (available in each of the Programming Languages) and, where appropriate, test data, for use in the examination. Paper 2 is a written 2 hours and 30 minute examination, which contains compulsory short answer question and longer extended questions. The non-examination assessment assesses student's ability to use the knowledge and skills gained through the course to solve or investigate a practical problem. Students will be expected to follow a systematic approach to problem solving
