Course summary
Geography prepares for the world of work - geographers, with their skills of analysis are highly employable. In this varied and exciting subject, you will learn about issues that affect us and the rest of the world on a daily basis. You will come to understand the causes of natural and man-made disasters, tackle global issues, resource management and our extreme environments as well the consequences of climate change. More importantly you will study how we try to solve the problems we face, and at best, reduce their impact. Component 1: Global Geographical Issues Hazardous Earth (including earthquakes and volcanoes) Development Dynamics (including a case study of India) Challenges of an Urbanising World Component 2: UK Geographical Issues The UK’s evolving physical landscape (including Coasts and Rivers) The UK’s evolving human landscape (including a case study of London) Fieldwork (human: a visit to Stratford, physical: a visit to a coastal location) Component 3: People and Environment Issues People and the Biosphere Forests under Threat Consuming Resources
