Course summary

On this History GCSE course, students will study the following four topics: 1. Medicine in Britain, c1250–present and The British sector of the Western Front, 1914-1918: injuries, treatment and the trenches. Students will find out how medicine developed in Britain over a long period of time, studying factors such as individuals, and science and technology and their impact on medicine. 2. Early Elizabethan England, 1558-1588 This topic allows students to study the first 30 years of Elizabeth I's reign, focusing on major events of Elizabeth I’s reign, including challenges, and Elizabethan society. 3. The American West, c1835-c1895 Students will study how America changed and developed, being settled by a variety of people. Students will look at the conflicts between the various groups that resulted from a clash of cultures between the Indians and white people. 4. Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918-1939 This topic focuses on the origins of the Weimar Republic; Hitler’s rise to power and how the Nazi party controlled Germany. Students will also study what life was like for different groups in Nazi Germany. Who should I speak to about this subject?
