AS/A Level in Art and Design (Fine Art)
Course summary
This is a broad-based course exploring practical and critical/contextual work through a range of 2D/3D processes and media. It is taught as one extended project during Year 12. The project starts with a brief or theme, which leads to the study of a different aspect of art, design or culture. You are expected to develop a journal, showing the development of ideas and experimentation with materials, which is taken through to an individual piece of final 2D or 3D work. You will be expected to participate actively in your course of study, recognising and developing your own strengths in the subject and identifying and sustaining your own independent developments. All students will be encouraged to work and develop skills in a multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary way. The art disciplines that all students will have an opportunity to explore and develop are: painting and drawing printmaking sculpture ceramics fine art textiles
