Welcome Message

Bluebell Park’s Post -16 provision educates and supports students aged sixteen to nineteen years old who have a range of additional needs including severe learning difficulties, complex learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

We offer a 38-week academic year, providing a full timetable Monday to Friday from 9am – 3:20pm. Our students come from Bluebell Park Upper School, Central School, and other schools within Knowsley and Merseyside.

Our vision for Post 16 is to nurture and develop students’ potential and prepare them with vital skills for life and potential employment. To do this we offer a range of accredited courses from Open Awards and ASDAN, to Functional Skills, Enrichment skills, Life skills and Work-related skills. All students also participate in creative sessions, sport & leisure sessions, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.   All of these areas incorporate learning in the community.

Work experience is available to Post-16 pupils and is matched as closely as possible to their individual interests and areas of strength. This links with the Post-16 curriculum to help our students to achieve their individual outcomes and aspirations for the future with as much independence as possible.

Post-16 pupils are able to work with ‘Careers Connect’ to look at options for the future, thinking about their own aspirations and what they want to do when they leave school.

Post-16 is a very busy, but happy department, where staff pride themselves on supporting pupils to develop their independence, whilst recognising their own strengths and forging new friendships in a more adult atmosphere.  Pupils have opportunities to experience a whole range of lessons linked to Preparing for Adulthood and this is very much the focus of the department.

Our ultimate aim is to support pupils to be the best versions of themselves, whilst being confident members of the community, having aspirations for themselves that they will be proud to achieve when they leave us.
