Welcome to Cloughside College
Cloughside College is a hospital school for young people with mental health conditions.
Our students are aged 11-19 years old and are on roll with our school only whilst they are patients in a CAMHS unit at Prestwich Hospital or Fairfield Hospital.
Due to the fact that students can be admitted from many locations around the country, we work with many schools. We are committed to ensuring that there is continuity in the education that we provide. Our students complete similar qualifications to those delivered in mainstream schools and FE establishments, including 'A' levels, GCSEs and Open Awards. Due to the range of establishments that we work with, we deliver a wide range of specifications. We also provide additional career-based learning and personal, social, health and economic education.
Where a young person is not currently in education, we offer appropriate educational and vocational pathways by providing personalised learning opportunities. For some young people we also play an important role in developing essential life skills and basic functional skills, supporting them to prepare for the future.
Our student population is constantly changing but we maintain high standards in a nurturing environment. We aim to make learning part of the hospital stay and believe the blend of therapeutic care and education aids recovery. Education staff work alongside doctors, nurses, psychologists, therapists, parents and carers, and social workers to support the students to become well enough to be discharged.
