Welcome Message
Welcome to Kingsmeadow Community School’s Sixth Form.
I would like to thank you for considering us in this important decision regarding your educational journey.
High expectations are placed upon our students, in both work and behaviour. We trust them to respect the increased freedom they will experience throughout their A-level studies and expect the demonstration of high levels of self-reliance and maturity.
Our Sixth Form offers a range of academic A-Levels and some vocational subjects and we keep class sizes small to ensure that every student has the dedicated time and focus they need.
We are proud to say that we can boast a success rate of almost 100%. Students tell us that they enjoy their time with us and their experiences, including comprehensive enrichment and careers guidance packages, making them attractive candidates for employers and universities.
Mrs Rafferty, Head of Sixth Form

University
Olivia completed Year 13 in 2024 and says that as a member of the Kingsmeadow community, she always felt inspired by the encouragement and support offered to her. She studied Psychology, Biology, English and Music at A level, and after gaining the results she needed, she began a new chapter in her education journey by studying for a degree in Psychology at Durham University.
Naomi Grey
September 2021
Employed
Naomi studied Maths, Sociology, and Business Studies in our Sixth Form and moved on to study towards a career as a Chartered Management Accountant at Manchester Metropolitan University. After university, she plans to complete her professional exams, with the goal of securing a role with one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms. Her advice is this: “Things not going to plan can feel daunting. Whether it’s failing an exam, receiving a university rejection, or realising that the subject or career path you thought was right for you isn’t quite what you expected — it’s all part of the journey.” She adds; “Success isn’t linear. There will be setbacks, but they don’t define you. What matters most is staying positive, being resilient, and believing in yourself. You’re capable of much more than you think — so keep going, keep growing, and always keep raising the bar.

Joshua is aiming for a 1st in his degree grading!
Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesIn addition to their three A level choices, Year 12 and 13 students complete the Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) where students undertake an independent research project in an area of their choice. It allows students to explore an area of interest in great depth and the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as research, analytical thinking, project management, and independent learning. The EPQ is a highly regarded qualification by universities and employers and can help students to stand out from other candidates. The Level 3 Extended Project Qualification is equal to 28 UCAS points, or half an A level, and can be used as part of an application to university.
We encourage our Sixth Form students to get involved in the mentoring programme and provide support and guidance for students in year 11; offering help and advice to other students through their GCSE studies. The mentoring programme helps enhance their personal statement.
Students in Sixth Form have designated enrichment time to help prepare them for their UCAS application to university. The students use this time to prepare their personal statement, research different universities and courses.
