Welcome to Cressex Community School

The Cressex Sixth Form is a dynamic and friendly environment. In July 2014 Ofsted said: “The sixth-form course run for a small group of students is outstanding. Students make excellent progress from their starting points because they follow a well-planned curriculum that offers them an appropriate qualification.”

The quality of teaching and the outcomes gained by students are of the highest standard. Students completing a Level 3 Sixth Form course are equipped to continue into higher education or to take up employment.

The Sixth Form currently offers two vocational courses, with two pathways, for students interested in pursuing a career working with children and families, or in further study in these areas.

The course is intense but has an outstanding track record of success.  It provides a solid foundation for students to develop the professional attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary for securing employment in the Early Years sector as well as the study skills necessary for progressing into higher education/ university.

Our students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a range of settings with different age groups, which also allows them to identify the age group that they prefer to work with.

Students enjoy the benefit of small group work in a school setting and an environment that caters for different learning styles and abilities. Students will receive one-to-one tutoring in a very supportive environment, a key feature of this Sixth Form programme.

A good standard of written English, good communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential attributes for success on this course.

Students who have not secured a GCSE grade 4, in English and/or Mathematics will be required to attend lessons in addition to the main programme and resit these examination(s) in the first year.

Please take a look at the pages accessible via the Sixth Form menu to the left of this page to find information about the different pathways available, the application process and a downloadable application form. Also of interest are details of where previous Sixth Form students have gone on to study and work following their successful completion of the course.
