Welcome to St Nicholas Catholic High School
On behalf of the Sixth Form team, we would like to welcome your application to join the Sixth Form at St. Nicholas. We are very proud of our thriving community and feel that this is an exciting place to be. As recent inspections and exam results indicate, we have a lot to be proud of at St Nicholas’, staff and students work hard here in order to achieve high academic and personal standards. The transition between Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 is a significant one and is not to be taken lightly. We would urge you to consider your options very carefully at this stage, and to take advice from parents, teachers and Sixth Form students as you do so. There is an ever increasing range of Post 16 opportunities; you need to fully understand what courses entail before you begin them. Now is the time to ask questions, as you start to take independent steps towards your future. Think hard about what you want for yourself, play to your strengths and keep your options as ‘wide open’ as possible. You also need to be prepared to make a personal commitment to the school and the wider community. All Sixth Form students at St Nicholas’ are expected to actively engage in service in order to support other people. The Spiritual and Moral Education (SME) programme is an integral aspect of your learning at St Nicholas and all students are expected to support this programme. Our aim here is to promote your spiritual and moral development, as well as your academic development. In this way, we hope to help you reach your full potential. There are also an ever-growing number of enrichment activities highlighted in our prospectus, which we would love you to get involved in. Mr T Bradley, Director of Sixth Form

Apprenticeship
I was helped a lot by the supportive staff throughout deciding my career options post A-Levels as I struggled to decide what was the best option for me. I also received a lot of support in preparation for my interview with AstraZeneca.

University
All of my teachers and form tutors were so supportive and were always happy to offer their extra time. My teachers helped me whether it was understanding subject content better, marking extra pieces of work/essays, understanding the options available after sixth form and helping me perfect my personal statement.

University
Sixth form filled me with confidence to peruse my highest goals! It also provided an opportunity for being Head Girl in a place where I knew how the school worked & the teachers within it, which ended up being an experience that I loved, and looked great on my personal statement. It was so comforting having teachers that genuinely cared when you got offers to university and got your results.
