Welcome Message

Welcome to Beverley School an all-through school committed to empowering autistic young people to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Our vision is rooted in a unique model we call Growing the Child, built around four interconnected themes aligned with the Preparation for Adulthood framework in the SEND Code of Practice (2015):

  • Employability (rigorous academic curriculum)
  • Independence (social and emotional learning)
  • Good Health (physical wellbeing)
  • Friends, Family and Community (community engagement)

From early years through post-16, we nurture every student’s potential and independence, ensuring they leave us confident, skilled, and ready for fulfilling futures.

We offer three Communication Pathways across primary and secondary, as well as a 14-19 Transition to Adulthood Pathway. Preparation for Adulthood themes are embedded throughout. Our autism-specific strategies support communication, emotional regulation, and personal care. A structured academic curriculum, built on termly themes and progression maps, enables deep knowledge and skills development – academically and holistically.

We believe that we can fulfil our vision by our unique model of growing the child, powered by four distinct, yet interconnected themes that enrich and inspire personal growth for our students. These themes based around the Preparation for adulthood themes in the SEND Code of Practice 2015 are a rigorous academic curriculum (Employability), social and emotional learning (Independence), physical health (Good Health) and family and community engagement (Friends family and community)

Career aspirations are supported through meaningful, personalised accreditation pathways including Functional Skills, ASDAN, and other accessible qualifications. Whether aiming for further education, employment, or supported living, our students are prepared for their next steps through a thoughtful, realistic approach.

We recognise that social and emotional wellbeing is central to success. Our nurturing environment is predictable, empathetic, and autism-aware. Personalised emotional support, trusted relationships, and regulation strategies help learners manage anxiety, build confidence, and form meaningful connections.

Health and wellbeing are key to our holistic approach. Students participate in a range of physical activities both on-site and in the wider community – such as swimming, gym sessions, and leisure centre visits. Movement is used not only for fitness, but for enjoyment and emotional regulation. We also offer yoga and mindfulness, helping students build strength, balance, and resilience.

Outdoor education, including Forest School, plays a vital role in developing self-esteem, practical skills, and the ability to manage uncertainty. These experiences are especially powerful for emotional growth and connection.

We strongly believe in partnership with families and carers. Collaboration, trust, and shared expertise are central to each student’s success.

Finally, the heart of Beverley School is our dedicated staff team – skilled, reflective, and passionate. They bring not only expert knowledge but daily compassion, ensuring each learner is respected, understood, and supported in a way that works for them.

Thank you for your interest in Beverley School. We look forward to welcoming you into our community.

At our school, outdoor play is an essential part of learning and development, especially for our primary students. Playtimes are thoughtfully structured to support sensory needs, social interaction, and physical development in a safe and stimulating environment.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

All students at Beverley school in Key stage 5 / pathway 14-19 have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award one morning per week. The award is broken down into 3 sections, during lesson time, Physical, Skill and Volunteering.

Forest School at Beverley School

Forest School is a valued part of our curriculum, offering children regular opportunities to explore, learn, and grow in a natural outdoor setting. Forest School provides a dynamic, hands-on approach to delivering the science curriculum in a real-world context.

External Organisations

Students at Beverley School benefit from working with several external organisations that link with areas including sports and exercise, outdoor and adventurous activities and conservation. Links with sport and exercise include rock climbing at either Rock Antics or Macmillan School, (as well as our new bouldering wall in Beverley School Sports Hall).
