Based around the Preparation for Adulthood framework, Mountjoy’s Post 16 provides a broad and balanced curriculum for young people with a range of additional needs including communication, learning, sensory and physical with additional support often needed to develop social and emotional skills, in preparation for the next stage of their adult life. Post 16 provides an environment where young people can be supported to grow and develop as individuals.

Personal Development

Independent and Co-Living Skills

At Mountjoy we aim for our pupils to be as ready as possible for their next stage in life. For some, this may include having the opportunity to live independently or co-habit. Therefore, some pupils learn how to cook, shop, clean and budget; alongside sharing facilities, working together and developing empathy, kindness and a willingness to support and celebrate one another.

Careers & Enterprise

Having a career is not just about “getting a job”. It is about how we help you to build all of those skills you are going to need for the future. Things like teamwork, communication, decision making, self-esteem and confidence. These are all really important skills to have as you move into your adult life.
