Welcome to Headlands Sixth Form: Where Individual Growth Leads to Success

There are many important decisions to make in life, and one of the first is where to study after GCSEs. At Headlands Sixth Form, we understand the significance of these next few years and are committed to making the experience both effective and enjoyable for all our students.

Our core philosophy prioritises our students happiness, safety & welfare. We see the individual before the examination candidate, ensuring that every student feels supported and empowered to flourish.

We also have high expectations for progress and attainment. Every student at Headlands Sixth Form is encouraged, guided, and supported to reach their fullest potential. We believe in setting ambitious goals and providing the necessary resources and support to help students achieve them.

Furthermore, we nurture inventive, fearless, and critical thinkers who are ready for success in their next steps. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire, equipping students with the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to excel beyond the classroom.

Join us at Headlands Sixth Form, where individual growth is the cornerstone of academic achievement and future success.

After finishing my studies, I did work experience at Lloyd Dowson which was very beneficial. I enrolled onto the AAT college course at the East Riding College. I was offered a job/studying career at Lloyd Dowson. I am now only a few exams away from finishing my AAT. It’s a great way to start a career as things I learn in my studies help me at work and jobs at work help me with my studies so it’s a win-win situation. The school productions were my all-time favourite getting involved with, Our House, Little Shop of Horrors and Grease was amazing! I enjoyed the ability to share my love for music and performing. University is not always the best route for everyone, keep your options open as there may be other opportunities to grasp closer to home. Sometimes to get a broader picture of availability in careers you need to look locally. There are many local businesses in the area who offer good career prospects.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
At Headlands Sixth Form, we believe education goes beyond the classroom. That’s why every Year 12 student takes up an enrichment offer as part of their study programme. These opportunities are closely linked with our Pathways Programme, ensuring that enrichment is not just an ‘add-on’, but a valuable part of preparing students for their chosen destinations – whether that’s university, apprenticeships, or employment.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

The EPQ allows students to develop independent research and project management skills by completing an in-depth investigation into a topic of their choice. Highly regarded by universities, the EPQ is worth valuable UCAS points and is equivalent to half an A Level. It is an excellent way for students to showcase their academic curiosity and strengthen UCAS applications.

Sports Leaders

This programme enables students to develop leadership, teamwork, and organisational skills by delivering sports sessions and events. It is an excellent option for those considering careers in coaching, teaching, or sports management, as well as for anyone wanting to build confidence and communication skills.

EBS Debating

Through regular debates and competitions, students refine their communication, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. The EBS Debating programme challenges learners to engage with current affairs, form persuasive arguments, and develop confidence in presenting to an audience.
