Welcome to Cleaswell Hill School
Our website will give you an insight into what makes us such an inspiring
and happy place to learn.
Cleaswell Hill is a community built on an agreed set of values where children come together to learn. Learning is the focus of the school; however, learning how to treat each other well is at the heart of the school.
Children from the age of four through to eighteen come to Cleaswell Hill. Their additional needs include complex and multiple learning disabilities and difficulties, speech, language and communication needs, physical and sensory needs.
With support and guidance to help overcome the barriers that have affected progress in the past, we help all of our children aim for the highest levels of attainment, through skilled, specialist teaching and well-resourced curricula, plus our collaborative partnership with parents/carers and multi-agency professionals.

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesPupils are offered the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s award as part of their curriculum, we are currently running both the bronze and silver awards at Cleaswell Hill School. To achieve the award pupils are required to; improve their physical fitness, learn a new skill, help improve the community or environment and complete an expedition.
Pupils have access to swimming coaching at local swimming pools, receiving certificates and badges for their achievements. We meet the national curriculum requirement to support all of our pupils, where possible, to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
We have good links with regional coaching schemes including Newcastle United Football Foundation, (PFC) Professional Football Coaching and Northumberland Cricket Board. Using community facilities such as Seb and Olivia’s den and local leisure centres enables a range of physical leisure opportunities for a large number of our pupils.
