Welcome to St Giles School, Retford

On behalf of the pupils, families and staff of St Giles School Retford, it is my privilege to welcome you to our school. We are a vibrant and inclusive community for children and young people aged 3–18 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). At St Giles, we provide exceptional, ambitious and holistic education where every learner is known, valued and celebrated — and where no dreams are out of reach.

Our school community is passionate about creating irresistible learning opportunities. Every pathway is carefully personalised so that each pupil receives the right balance of support, challenge and encouragement. Staff skilfully adapt to individual needs and starting points, enabling every learner to achieve highly and thrive.

The strength of St Giles lies in its people. Our highly skilled teachers, teaching assistants and support staff work closely with leaders, governors, parents and external professionals. Together with therapists, nurses and NHS colleagues, we remove barriers, nurture independence and ensure that every child’s needs are met exceptionally well.

Our broad and balanced curriculum is designed with the future in mind. From the earliest years through to Post-16, we provide progressive pathways that inspire, challenge and prepare pupils for adulthood. Reading and communication are central to learning, giving every child the tools to connect, express themselves and succeed.

Real-life, real-world opportunities are woven into every stage of education. Pupils experience work-related learning, enterprise projects and community activities that prepare them exceptionally well for life beyond school. They leave St Giles as confident, capable and well-rounded young people, ready for the next stage of their journey.
