Welcome to Moor House School & College
Moor House College is the co-educational sixth form provision of Moor House offering both day and weekly residential placements.
Students continue to receive individualised Speech and Language Therapy intervention delivered in 1:1 sessions, small groups and direct classroom support. Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychotherapy and Specialist Literacy interventions also continue and are embedded across the curriculum.
Students study a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum, incorporating the requirements of their chosen vocational courses as well as Maths, English and PSHCE qualifications. These are highly modified in language content and presentation, to ensure our students significant language needs are met.
If you would like to find out more about our sixth form provision, please contact the office for an appointment with Mrs Madeleine Van-Niekerk, Deputy Head Teacher Key Stage 5 (College) or alternatively contact admissions to book your place on one of our opening mornings.
We look forward to meeting you.

Brydie Bailey
September 2014
Employed
Currently working as a Snowboard Instructor in Canada, Brydie, who attended the college from 2014-2017, spoke about her journey since leaving Moor House, encouraging students to show openness and perseverance as they prepare for their next steps. Brydie, who has dyslexia, described how being open and honest about what she finds difficult, and sharing strategies with her colleagues, has not only helped her, but benefitted others within her work environment too. She also highlighted the need for determination, explaining some of the challenges she had overcome to get her snowboarding qualification, including driving all the way to Andorra for the exam.
Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesEvenings at Moor House are busy, with a wide range of options offered. These can be accessed either through local facilities or onsite. Activities range from tennis at the local tennis club, arts and crafts to Horse-Riding. Every evening the sports complex houses several activities from softball to swimming.
Residential students are encouraged to register with the local GP practice. Our Healthcare manager is on site at Moor House during the daytime, and an assistant is on site during the evenings. The Healthcare department works closely with our GP who holds a weekly clinic at school.
Each residential student has a key worker who sets up the student’s care plan with input from the parents and the student themselves. Through evening activities and one to one sessions the key worker helps support social development, independence skills and therapy targets. Parents are contacted by email each week to give an update on how the student’s week has gone.
