The structure of the day really helped. You get used to having gaps in your timetable for independent study. Compared to high school with 9-4 you get in the routine of self-led study with the college timetable structure.

“It was a really good place to make friends and grow up ready for Uni. But you don’t have to go to Uni, there are other things too. Even if you don’t, I think college is a really great place to prepare for next steps”

“I think social skills were really useful, when you come to Sixth Form you are with people you have never met before and make new friends. That really helps when you go to Uni and when you are an adult to have the confidence to go for new jobs.”

Challenging but in all the right ways

The gaps between lessons really helped with the transfer to independence at university. The freedom made you feel like an adult.
