Welcome to Hill Top School

At Hill Top, our KS5 provision is focused so that everything we do, will prepare our pupils for adulthood and get them ready for their next step beyond Hill Top. We continue to offer 3 pathways in KS5. Our informal pathway is largely for pupils who have accessed our autism centre. The pupils on this pathway will continue to work on life-skills and won’t be focusing on formal accreditations. For pupils on our semi-formal pathway, those pupils will also work on life-skills and independence but will achieve some unit awards or more formal qualifications. Finally, for the pupils on our formal pathway, pupils will work to consolidate their Entry 3, functional skills or GCSE qualifications as well as skills like independent travel. All pupils, on all pathways, work towards their individual EHCP outcomes and follow very individualised curriculums, depending on the pupil’s needs. A lot of our pupils continue to need support to work on basic life skills, such as road safety, personal hygiene, money handling and travel skills, which are all things we offer alongside an academic curriculum. Hill Top 6th form can be for 1 or 2 years, depending on the pathway of the pupils. We believe in working closely with parents and the pupils to empower them to fully understand their options beyond Hill Top and support them to get to wherever that next step will be. We continuously work with the CIAG team at the local authority to ensure all parties are well informed about provisions that are available, whatever the needs of the pupils. Our pupils take part in work experience and enterprise activities, both in school and have options to access outside opportunities. We believe these experiences are invaluable to prepare them for the world of work. Please have a look at some of the great things we do in 6th form!
