FAQs
Current Highlands students: Apply internally during an online pathways meeting with a senior member of staff in the spring term. External applicants: Apply online via Applicca. Yes. Students must be under 18 years of age on the first day of term to begin a course.
There are a minimum of ten guaranteed places for external students, provided their predicted grades meet the entry requirements.
If the sixth form is oversubscribed, places will be offered based on: students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), siblings already at the school, children of staff members, students of expected year 12 age and distance from the school
Students who meet the criteria will receive a conditional offer based on predicted grades. Final offers are confirmed after GCSE results are released in the summer.
Students who are offered a place will be invited to a Transition Day during the first week of July. This gives students the opportunity to meet staff, learn more about the sixth form, and discuss their chosen courses.
Enrolment takes place on a specific date after GCSE results day (usually the final week of the summer holiday). Students must attend in person to confirm their place and complete the sign-on process.
All students complete a six-week probation during September and October. A place is confirmed only after successful completion, based on: attendance, behaviour for learning, contribution to the sixth form, dress code, effort and completion of work set
If you are not offered a place, your parents may appeal to the Governors of the school.
