Welcome to Tudor Grange Academy Worcester

As a Sixth Form, our vision is clear, being….with your time with us is key to being successful. It is for this reason we encourage our students to be involved with:Their academic programme by being proactive learners who display the Tudor Grange learning habits in and outside of lessonsParticipating in at least one enrichment optionEngaging in work experience opportunities ranging from insight days to placementsInspiring younger students by being role modelsWorking with us, their teachers and tutors to ensure successBecoming adults during their time with usMaking the choices about their future We firmly believe that in doing so, we will equip you with the experience and qualifications needed to reach your post-18 ambitions. The gap between GCSE and post-16 education is the widest academic gap there is so you will need to be proactive by displaying the learning habits of curiosity, commitment and courage. In doing so though, you will not be alone as we will support you on your journey to success as well as beyond. This year we had our first student ever to gain a place at the University of Cambridge with all our other students leaving us with a post-18 destination of either university, an apprenticeship or employment. The reason for this is our personalised approach to our students’ education. This is why we offer a diverse range of level 3 qualifications including A-levels and vocational courses such as BTECs. Along with having experienced post-16 teachers, our students’ academic programme is supported by them having a dedicated tutor who acts as their mentor and designated sixth form facilities such as the centre hub, study room and café.Our Sixth Form is a key part of our academy community which has resulted in a friendly and exciting atmosphere having been created. Our students are role models who continue to make valuable contributions to wider community. In addition to the academic side of sixth form we offer a wide-ranging enrichment programme where students take advantage of opportunities such as our Sixth Form Cabinet, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Enterprise, core maths, CCF and work experience. Life skills sessions sit alongside this, as does the support of a dedicated sixth form team that includes a qualified careers advisor and mental health first aiders. The combination of academic and enrichment has led to a positive and supportive learning environment in the sixth form. Tudor Grange Academy Worcester Sixth Form is where all students can flourish and reach their potential through their active involvement with us.

University

Hi I’m James and I am now studying at Loughborough University. I spent my two years at Tudor Grange Sixth Form studying biology A-Level, Psychology A-Level and Sport and Exercise Science BTEC. I decided to go to university to delve deeper into sport psychology which caught my interest during my BTEC course, to meet new people from different backgrounds and to develop life skills. Whilst at university I have enjoyed using Loughborough’s first class facilities to play cricket and football, whilst also becoming a member of Loughborough’s psychology society. I aspire to have a career in sport psychology and contribute to the development of a fairly newly emerging field in psychology.

I studied history, biology and psychology A-Levels at Tudor Grange Sixth Form, which has allowed me to go on and study Evolutionary Anthropology at the University of Liverpool. My selected modules have allowed me to explore and study my own archaeological excavations and sites. I was awarded the Rowlands Trust Bursary which has given me the opportunity to complete 10 days of research during the summer of 2024 and 2025. The bursary has been invaluable in helping me adapt to university life and my new surroundings, preparing me for the next two years.

University

At Tudor Grange I studied English Language, psychology and drama A-Levels. I really enjoyed my time here as the smaller classes suited my learning style and I had a very good relationship with my teachers. The support from said teachers enabled me to get the grades needed to study English Language and Film Studies at The University of Manchester. It was at Uni I have made friends for life, I had a great time in the film society and playing rugby. This was not only a lot of fun, but it was crucial in developing my confidence which allowed me to pursue a career in advertising in London. Now I am in London, enjoying city life and doing a creative job I very much like and this stems from my time at Tudor Grange Sixth Form, for which I am extremely grateful.

Enrichment Activities

As well as achieving outstanding grades, young people must acquire a range of skills and experiences in order to succeed in later life. It is for this reason; all sixth form students will participate in our enrichment programme, which is designed to prepare students for higher education and the world of work. It is also an essential part of being successful at the academy as the programme supports the completion of references for UCAS, apprenticeship applications and employment after sixth form. Likewise, the programme exposes students to opportunities that will allow them to develop important competencies that employers and higher institutions are looking for. The competencies promoted by the programme are
