My name is Alessio Borova, and I was a sixth form student at Malcolm Arnold academy from 2022-2024 and | studied A level Business, BTEC IT and Criminology. My time at MAA was a great one and a time I can look back on proudly as the school helped me achieve my goal of attending a prestigious university. My biggest highlight personally was results day where I obtained an A in Business a Merit in IT and a B in Criminology. This was a day where I could see my hard work had paid off and a day where I could really appreciate the help and support around me as without the help of my teachers I wouldn't have been able to achieve the grades I did. The teachers at MAA were great with us as they always were around to help and make you feel supported, they always gave us a sense of belonging and confidence. Furthermore the staff were great with helping us with work experience and our personal statements, in my case I was very lucky to take advantage of an opportunity that came around when Barclays came into school and I was able to network with their staff and team and was able to land myself some incredible work experience but that wouldn't of been possible without the school providing us with these amazing opportunities. I am very grateful and fortunate to have attended a school where the teachers care and supported us through our sixth form journey.

I now attend the University Of Nottingham where I am studying international business management with a year in industry, this was a university all my teachers knew I wanted to be at and they provided me with the resources and encouragement to achieve the grades necessary to do so. I would highly recommend MAA sixth form as it has pathed the way for my future and broadened my horizons. As for my future I hope to achieve a first class in my degree and hope to peruse a career in investment banking.

MA6 provided me with many academic and pastoral opportunities to help me achieve my full potential during my sixth form study. The staff organised trips, such as our year group’s visit to Lincoln College, Oxford, which greatly encouraged me to apply to Oxford University. Throughout my time at MA6, the support from the teaching staff was amazing. Their enthusiasm and experience really helped me to engage with my subjects and achieve my grades. I was also grateful for the support with my UCAS application and with the guidance for choosing future pathways.

After studying at MA6, I received my A level results in August 2024 and I’m now studying Geography at Mansfield College, Oxford.
