Welcome Message

Sixth Form

Our aim is simple – to support students to reach their full potential.
Our Sixth Form focuses on academic excellence and preparing students for university education, apprenticeships and the world of work. We have a dedicated and passionate team of well-qualified and highly-skilled staff who provide a wide range of A Level courses to suit all interests as well as a small number of Level 3 BTEC qualifications.

Outstanding teaching enables our students to become creative thinkers and develop a love of learning. Students are encouraged to become independent learners; however, a real strength of the school is also the extensive individualised teaching support within classrooms and tracking of work which ensures all of our students can make outstanding progress. Alongside our national reputation for academic excellence, we also pride ourselves on our outstanding pastoral care, providing a very positive environment in which students thrive. At The Compton there is a strong and caring community with an emphasis on support for high achievement. Behaviour is recognised as outstanding. We place high emphasis on respect and positive behaviour, which ensures the Sixth Form is a happy and safe place to learn. There is a vibrant student body with a wide range of enrichment and leadership activities for students to get involved in.

Ofsted has graded the school as ‘outstanding’ on 5 consecutive inspections, most recently in March 2024.In March 2025, the Department of Education confirmed that The Compton Sixth Form is now in the top 20% of all schools and colleges nationally for the amount of Progress pupils make.

Since 1996 to the present day, The Compton School has continued to be recognised as an ambitious, safe and welcoming school where students achieve outstanding examination results. Our constant drive for innovation and improvement ensures that we provide the best possible education for each and every young person. For all these reasons and many more, we are immensely proud to be Headteachers at The Compton School. We very much look forward to you joining us and seeing for yourself what a wonderful place The Compton School is to be a part of.

Since Leaving Compton, I have began my career in Management Consulting working specifically in Business Transformation. I work with clients that operate in the built and natural asset industry. During my time I have worked on 2 industry level transformation programmes, providing support on final outputs that will help deliver the transformation. I have provided my tips/advice based on my journey below : Take Opportunities Put yourself out there, don't hold back on opportunities that will help elevate your career, there are always people to help along the way. It is also a great way to build a positive network. Show growth mindset Ask questions, understand the methodology behind certain structures and ideas, this allows you to learn and pick up skills quicker. Utilise the people around you I have the privilege of working with industry and subject matter experts in different disciplines, I utilise their knowledge and career progression to see how I can fit it into mine.

Utilise the extra-curricular activities/courses on offer as soon as possible. This is because you have extra time to build up your CV. Your future self will thank you. Get some experience. Use your holidays by getting placements with companies in your chosen field Getting experience is very competitive and it is easy to feel disheartened, look for alternate means of contacting businesses. If you are unable to get shorter placements/ unpaid work experiences through applying on their websites, you could use Linkedin, emailing or phoning instead. Even if you do get rejected, email politely thanking them for the opportunity and asking for feedback on why you were not chosen. This way you will be able to recognise the skills you need to work on and leave a positive effect on the recruiter.

Be as sociable as possible. Leave your door open so people can come say hi, hong out in communal oreas, go to any events put on by your halls, join societies . Moving to Monchester, I had to get used to a new area where I knew nobody and the main thing that helped me settle in was I went into it with on open mind ond put myself out there socially and hove since thoroughly enjoyed my first year Keep on top of all your lectures/tutorials os once you fall behind it becomes much more difficult . Make the most out of the help the Uni gives you. Attend things like personal tutor meetings ond lecturers office hours especially when you ore struggling with content . Uni is a LOT more independent so moke sure you become acclimatised to this Everyone else is feeling the same woy your feeling when you start: anxious/excited so make sure to bear this in mind when meeting others . Most importantly, enjoy yourselves os Uni can be seem very overwhelming but os soon os you put yourself out there, it becomes so much more worthwhile.
