We want your time at Alcester Grammar School sixth form to be a happy one. And finally preparation for your post-18 life. You're here for a mere 21 months! We devote a lot of time and effort to preparing you to engage with and make a contribution to the world. All students in Year 12 and 13 engage with our innovative LIFE programme - covering not only core PSHE, but also practical skills such as cookery, changing a tyre, budgeting and ironing! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about joining us in Year 12.Mr Jeremy Slater, Vice Principal / Head of Sixth Form

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
AGS offers a wide variety of extra and super-curricular opportunities beyond the classroom. We believe that all our students should have the opportunity to develop new skills and find different interests and hobbies. Taking part in clubs is also a wonderful way to make new friends and have fun with others who share similar interests. Students are able to take part in a wide range of sports, music and drama opportunities as well as a variety of co-curricular activities, fun clubs and societies. These are led by staff in their specific field of expertise and/or interest area and a number of clubs are initiated and run by our students themselves.

Duke of Edingburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh award is a very popular extra-curricular activity at AGS. We offer students the opportunity to complete each of the 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Sixth Form Academic Societies
Alcester Grammar School offers twelve academic societies. Our medical society (MedSoc) and law society (LawSoc) are the most established with the recent founding of societies supporting Engineering (EngSoc), Languages (LangSoc) Literature (LitSoc). These organisations are run by students for the benefit of their members to help them achieve places on specific highly competitive courses. These Aim High societies do a range of things including share resources, invite in speakers, go on visits and enter competitions.
Life Programme
At AGS we are passionate about taking a holistic approach to education. The AGS Life Programme is an initiative we have launched this year. Every Friday morning, all of our Year 7 - 13 students have a 30 minute ‘Life lesson’. This is a real team effort with many members of our school community contributing to developing and delivering sessions. We are keen to make the most of all the expertise we have, and some of our sessions are also led by students themselves.
