Welcome Message
We want your time at Alcester Grammar School sixth form to be a happy one. We expect high academic standards where students take responsibility for their own learning and personal development, within a strong framework of support and guidance. Most importantly we’re committed to fostering a sense of community where being a decent human being and treating all with respect is at the core.
We offer a wide range of 23 A levels offering the freedom to choose ANY combination of subjects, (we do not 'option block'), plus the EPQ should you wish to.
Our Year 12 and 13 students serve as role models to younger students. Active participation in extracurricular activities and visits is encouraged and there are many opportunities to both showcase your talents and develop your leadership skills.
And finally preparation for your post-18 life. You're here for a mere 21 months! We devote a lot of time and effort to preparing you to engage with and make a contribution to the world. All students in Year 12 and 13 engage with our innovative LIFE programme - covering not only core PSHE, but also practical skills such as cookery, changing a tyre, budgeting and ironing!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about joining us in Year 12.
Mr Jeremy Slater, Vice Principal / Head of Sixth Form

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesThe Duke of Edinburgh award is a very popular extra-curricular activity at AGS. We offer students the opportunity to complete each of the 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Alcester Grammar School offers twelve academic societies. Our medical society (MedSoc) and law society (LawSoc) are the most established with the recent founding of societies supporting Engineering (EngSoc), Languages (LangSoc) Literature (LitSoc). These organisations are run by students for the benefit of their members to help them achieve places on specific highly competitive courses. These Aim High societies do a range of things including share resources, invite in speakers, go on visits and enter competitions.
At AGS we are passionate about taking a holistic approach to education. The AGS Life Programme is an initiative we have launched this year. Every Friday morning, all of our Year 7 - 13 students have a 30 minute ‘Life lesson’. This is a real team effort with many members of our school community contributing to developing and delivering sessions. We are keen to make the most of all the expertise we have, and some of our sessions are also led by students themselves.
