Welcome to Cheam High School
The Sixth Form at Cheam High School is vibrant, supportive and very popular with over 460 students and we are very proud of all of our students. We are in the enviable position of seeing them grow, mature and develop which is incredibly satisfying. The experience we provide for all students enables them to achieve very well, both academically and personally. The Sixth Form Management Team consists of 11 members of staff and together with more than 30 tutors work incredibly hard to support all students, academically and pastorally, to achieve their goals. Our curriculum is vast with 29 A level courses and 13 Vocational courses on offer. Students are able to choose a combination of these courses or just A levels or Vocational subjects. Our teaching and learning is of the highest standard and is regularly monitored to ensure students receive the best education and opportunities. All students have a range of enrichment opportunities to build up their extra-curricular experiences which helps when applying for university or a job or apprenticeship. The support we provide for every student in the progression route they decide is second to none. Students can be a prefect, mentor students, contribute to the school and local community and undertake a week's work experience.Tutor time and assemblies are compulsory and are a vital part of the week. Praise is widespread across the sixth form and in many forms. Sixth form events are regular to enable students to have fun and relax away from the demands of their studies as well as earn community cup points for their tutor group and raise money for the Sixth Form charity. Events include challenge weeks, tutor and tutee Masterchef, decoration making and tombolas.Post 16 exam results for 2025 were again very strong. Highlights are below and include some large increases in some of the headline percentages as well as our number of AX grades more than doubling. We are hoping for another very positive value added measure after last year's excellent score.AX-A: 20%; AX-B: 47%; AX-C: 72%; AX-E: 98%DX-DI: 31%; DX-M: 85%; DX-P: 99%Progression 2025This year over 170 UCAS applications were sent in total with currently 150 students heading off to university including 137 accepting their firm choice. A number of students have started at a Russell Group University with a further number accepting a place at other prestigious universities. The most popular university destinations were Kingston University, University of Surrey, Portsmouth and Bournemouth Universities with Bristol being our favourite Russell Group university. The most popular courses were Business and Social Sciences.A number of students seeking apprenticeships for 2025 were hugely successful including some securing higher and degree level apprenticeships. Some of the apprenticeships included: Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships with Airbus and WSP; also, apprenticeships with the Leo Academy, The Royal Marines and The Royal College of Needlework and in marketing and accounting. We are very proud of all our students’ achievements and wish all students the best of luck in their next steps. For September 2025 entry, please see the 'Post 16' - 'Join us' section for relevant resources and forms. If you have any questions or concerns about Cheam High School Sixth Form, or you would like to present an assembly or talk, do not hesitate to contact us on secretary@cheam.sutton.sch.uk or 020 8254 6857.Mr S BrewisAssistant Headteacher; Post 16
