Welcome to Erasmus Darwin Academy

Welcome to the webpages for Erasmus Darwin Academy Sixth Form. This is an exciting stage of education for young people as they begin to make decisions about the next phase of their life.

Our Sixth Form offers a wide range of A-Level and vocational qualifications that enables students to move onto the next destination, be that university, employment or apprenticeships.

Students entering Erasmus Darwin Academy Sixth Form will study three Level 3 (A-Level or BTEC) subjects with a commitment from the student to study these for the whole two-year course.

Level 3 courses include A-levels, BTEC Nationals and Applied Diplomas. A-levels are deeply rooted in examinations as assessments. These examinations are at the end of the course and therefore the only external examinations will take place in the summer of Year 13. However, you will have numerous assessment periods throughout the course to indicate how you are progressing. BTEC Nationals and Applied Diplomas are continually assessed through assignments, although these qualifications also contain an examined element.

Entry to Erasmus Darwin Academy for current year 11 Erasmus Darwin Academy students isn’t automatic. To be admitted into the Sixth Form at Erasmus Darwin Academy Sixth we have minimum entry requirements to ensure you are following the most appropriate route at this important point in your academic career. Additionally, external candidates currently in year 11 must meet our entry criteria before admission.

In addition to our general minimum entry requirements, for certain Sixth Form courses you must have been successful in the subject at GCSE. You should look at the entry requirements for each course before making any decisions and bear in mind your own performance levels in the subject.

If you are in doubt, talk to your parents, your teachers and the advice and guidance staff. Use the UCAS web site to research university courses at https://www.ucas.com/.*”
