Welcome to Royal Wootton Bassett Academy

It is a pleasure to extend a warm welcome to students joining us for this exciting two year experience in our Sixth Form. Whether you are transitioning from our main school or joining us from another institution, we are committed to providing you with a fulfilling and enriching academic journey.

Sixth Form brings so many exciting challenges and opportunities both in and out of the classroom, as well as the responsibilities of independent learning, leading others and exploring future options.

The RWBA Sixth Form community is vibrant, friendly and inclusive. Our main priority is to ensure that all students feel valued‑ like they belong, supported and well informed. Our holistic approach allows our students to be successful academically and gain the skills required to thrive in adult life. Students all study three subjects delivered by a team of highly experienced subject specialists. Many students also complete other qualifications that enhance their skills and support their future goals.

At RWBA Sixth Form every student is treated as an individual, supported and encouraged to make use of all the opportunities offered and we are proud to see our students thrive during their time with us. Our pastoral support allows a bespoke approach and is available to all students. Throughout the two years with us we provide an extensive personal development programme that encompasses, future study, apprenticeships, work experience and essential life skills needed to navigate adulthood successfully.

Our Sixth Form students are leaders and role models in our school. They work closely with younger students developing their reading skills, helping out in extra curricular clubs, raising awareness of positive wellbeing and teaching strategies to support positive mental health, providing homework support and even supporting in some lessons. Each year I am proud to watch our Sixth Formers grow in confidence, maturity and in their academic work.

CAREERS AND WORLD OF WORK

Careers and future aspirations are an integral part of student life at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, where we are passionate about holistically developing our students.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award at RWBA is a thriving and successful department. The concept of the DofE is very simple – anyone aged between 14 and 25 can take part in a programme at one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We have an average an annual intake of 90 pupils for the Bronze Award, 40 for Silver and 25 for Gold.
